STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING >>

The RGCE staff has diverse experience with the design of commercial buildings. Structures have ranged in height from one to twenty-four stories. Projects have included new and renovated office buildings, governmental facilities (recreational, office, and correctional) and industrial buildings. Structural engineering for transportation projects constitutes a key component of the RGCE practice, with projects ranging from retaining walls and single span pedestrian bridges to major highway bridges. Our structural expertise includes simple span and continuous span pre-cast, pre-stressed concrete, steel and cast-in-place concrete bridges over highways, rivers and railroads. Other projects include retaining walls, box culverts, sign structures and foundations designed as part of a larger project or as a stand-alone improvement. Additionally, RGCE provides inspection of existing structures along with condition reports and repair / replacement recommendations.

JORDAN ROAD BRIDGE OVER HAPPY CANYON CREEK >>

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers was retained by Arapahoe County for the final design and construction administration of a 130' single-span twin bridge structure to carry Jordan Road over Happy Canyon Creek. Ultimately carrying a four lane divided road, the project utilized phased construction. The project included roadway approaches, on-site detour, hydraulics, utility coordination, and coordination of all approvals and permits.

COUNTY ROAD 6 BRIDGE OVER BUCHANAN CREEK >>

GRAND COUNTY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers was retained by Grand County for the final design of a 122' single-span bridge over Buchanan Creek at the Granby Reservoir. The project included roadway approaches, hydrology/hydraulics, bridge design (utilizing horizontally curved weathering steel plate girders), detour design, and application for permits.

72ND AVENUE BRIDGE OVER BURLINGTON DITCH >>
96TH AVENUE BRIDGE OVER O'BRIAN CANAL >>

ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers was retained by Adams County to prepare construction plans, specifications, and estimates for the replacement of two single-span bridges over privately-owned irrigation canals. The project included roadway approach design and, for the 72nd Avenue bridge, the design of new roadways to accommodate a relocation of the bridge. Construction phasing of the bridge replacements was complicated by the year-round flow in the irrigation ditches.

COUNTY ROAD 10 BRIDGE OVER BLUE RIVER >>

GRAND COUNTY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers was retained by Grand County for the final design of a 106' single-span, prestressed concrete girder bridge over the Blue River. The project included roadway approaches, hydrology/hydraulics, bridge design, detour design, and application for permits.

U.S. 34 OVER SHEEP DRAW BRIDGE >>

GREELEY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers is currently performing all structural design for a 34.4-meter-long single-span bridge on S.H. 34 over Sheep Draw for the Colorado Department of Transportation, Region 4. The plans for this bridge were prepared in metric units.

MAIN STREET BRIDGE OVER NORTH CLEAR CREEK >>

BLACK HAWK, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers prepared the design and performed the construction administration of a prestressed concrete bridge across North Clear Creek. The design included major retaining wall structures to accommodate widening of State Highway 119.

JORDAN ROAD BRIDGE OVER NEWLIN GULCH >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers was retained for the reconstruction and widening of Jordan Road, including a new 100-foot two-span precast girder bridge over Newlin Gulch. The new bridge was designed to accommodate channel improvements to Newlin Gulch.

CHASE STREET BRIDGE OVER NORTH CLEAR CREEK >>

BLACK HAWK, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the City of Black Hawk for the design of a replacement bridge over North Clear Creek. In addition to very tight site constraints, the project included a CDOT access permit, Department of Health dewatering permit, and a full U.S. Army Corps of Engineers 404 permit.

I-76/120TH AVENUE INTERCHANGE >>

ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers is providing drainage and structural engineering services to the prime consultant, Felsburg, Holt & Ullevig, in the planning and design of an interchange at 120th Avenue with I-76. Proposed for a growing area of Adams County, this complex interchange design will expand the function of the nearby S.H. 2 interchange to serve 120th Street -- proposed as a major east-west arterial through the county. The interchange design is further complicated by numerous drainages (with wetlands) and irrigation ditches, a major truck stop, tracks for the Burlington Northern Railroad, and the nearby proposed freeway-to-freeway interchange of I-76 with the E-470 Beltway.

COSTILLA AVENUE PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE >>

LITTLETON, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers provided the design and construction observation for the installation of a 50-foot-span pedestrian/bicycle bridge across the Highline Canal. The project included concrete trail approaches and drainage modifications to Costilla Avenue.

COLORADO RIVER PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE >>

GRAND JUNCTION, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers designed a 410', three-span pedestrian bridge across the Colorado River. This bridge utilized CDOT G-GB girders supported by concrete foundations at larger diameter caissons. Extensive work was done to mitigate environmental problems.

ALAMOSA PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE >>

ALAMOSA, COLORADO
This project required the design of a 300' three-span bridge over the Rio Grande River. Superstructure utilized precast box girders. Substructure was founded on steel piling. RGCE coordinated with the U.S. Army Corps for the 404 Permit and with their levee project in Alamosa. RGCE provided construction observation and administration.

ADAMS COUNTY BRIDGE #303 >>

ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO
RG Consulting Engineers designed an 80' single-span bridge, a quarter mile of roadway, and channel improvements along with a park. The roadway stayed open at all times.
