RGCE has a broad range of experience in site and land development for industrial, commercial, governmental, and residential projects, including the increasingly complex coordination required with public agencies. Our services include feasibility studies, annexation and zoning, traffic impact studies, streets, storm sewer systems, site grading, water distribution, storage and treatment, sanitary sewer systems and treatment, and construction administration. From rural highways to urban interstates, RGCE provides full study and design services related to highway systems. Our full-service capabilities include corridor, location and conceptual studies, hydrology/hydraulics studies and design, highway geometry, and construction plans and specifications for new and reconstructed highway systems. On interchange projects, our highway design staff is complemented by our structural design services. RGCE has led or been a key participant on a number of multi disciplined teams in the planning and design of a broad range of bikeways and recreational trails. Engineering services on this 25,000-acre Mobil Land Development Corp. project included the preparation of a master water systems plan, including ground and surface water source analysis and preliminary cost estimates.

Design and construction administration including grading, drainage, wetland consultation, utility relocation, pedestrian/bike/equestrian paths, soccer field, two softball fields, playground, sodding, and irrigation system.

PETERSON AFB, COLORADO

The Command and Control Facility for the Space Command at Peterson AFB is situated on a 12-acre site, located on Stewart Avenue. Site design included site layout, and geometry of buildings, parking lots, docks, drives, equipment/vehicle storage areas, sidewalks, antennae and security fence, grading and earthwork, sanitary sewer main extension and service connections, water main extension and fire protection loop, drainage including detention/retention ponds and storm sewer systems, rigid and flexible pavement design, specifications, topographic survey, cost estimates, and design reports. In addition, the project required significant coordination with Peterson AFB, utility companies, building users, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

The Continental Airlines Maintenance Hangar project included full site engineering services for the hangar and administration facility situated on a 20-acre site. Site design included site layout and geometry for buildings, roadways, taxiway, apron and parking areas, grading and earthwork, contaminated and non-contaminated storm sewer systems, detention ponds and contaminated runoff holding pond, de-ice fluid collection and storage system, 3-stage clarification system for runoff, sanitary sewer system, security fencing, airfield striping, blast fence, specifications, coordination, and construction observation.

DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT

The South Campus Facility encompassed full civil site engineering for an air cargo building, a flight services kitchen, and a ground services building situated on a 22-acre site at Denver International Airport. Site design included site layout and geometry of buildings, drives, parking lots, docks and apron, grading and earthwork, drainage and storm sewer system, sanitary sewer mains and services, fencing, flexible and rigid pavement design (airside and landside), specifications, cost estimates, design report, and construction observation. Significant coordination was required with three building architectural teams, Denver International Airport engineering staff, three building users within Continental, and utility companies.

Prepared plat for site and Site Development Plan drawings and processed for Planning Development approval. The work included coordination with Douglas County, Denver Water Department, and Southgate Water and Sanitation District.



HIGHLANDS RANCH >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO

Single-family residential development for 21 filings, including overlot grading plans, final plats, drainage studies, floodplain determinations, sanitary sewer systems, storm drain systems, drainageway outfall structures, concrete box culverts, street plans, and water system analysis and design for over 2,800 lots. Processed plat and improvement plans for approval by Douglas County, the water and sanitation district, and Urban Drainage and Flood Control District. Prepared three preliminary plats and preliminary drainage studies for an additional 5,300 lots.



INFORMATION SYSTEMS FACILITY/DIAL CENTRAL OFFICE (ISF/DCO) >>

FORT CARSON, COLORADO

The ISF/DCO project originally encompassed the design of two buildings (ISF and DCO) within a 10-acre site located on Specker Avenue within Fort Carson, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (Omaha). Site design included: the demolition of several existing structures; re-routing a major drainage channel; site preparation; grading and earthwork; site layout of buildings, parking lots, drives, loading docks, equipment/vehicle storage areas and sidewalks; sanitary sewer connections; water and fire systems; drainage and storm sewer systems; rigid and flexible pavement design; specifications; cost estimates; and design report. In addition, the project required significant coordination with the Fort Carson DEH, utility companies, building users, and the Corps of Engineers.



IRONDALE AUTOMOTIVE TERMINAL >>

ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO

Grading, paving, drainage, striping, access road, water, sanitary sewer, electrical, lighting, security fencing, railroad spur, guard house, and operations building for an automobile terminal facility on a ten-acre site. New automobiles were transported to the facility by rail and processed for truck delivery to dealerships. The facility had secured storage for approximately 700 vehicles.



KINDERCARE LEARNING CENTERS, INC. >>

PARKER, COLORADO

Prepared detailed site plan, including storm drain collection and detention, access and parking, grading plan, water and sanitary sewer utilities, fencing, retaining walls, landscape and irrigation, and erosion control plan. Coordinated approvals by public agencies and made site inspections during construction.



LINCOLN PARK METROPOLITAN DISTRICT >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO

These developments represent a mix of single and multi-family residential, commercial, and office industrial development on approximately 1,600 acres in Douglas County. Engineering services included the preparation of the master infrastructure (roads, drainage, water, and sewer) plan for the entire development; the design and construction administration for domestic water wells, water treatment, storage and pumping, and transmission facilities; sewage treatment plant with effluent storage and land application irrigation system; wastewater collection systems, and 1.1 miles of four-lane arterial roadway with one bridge constructed and another designed.



RANCHO CABALLO >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO

Proposed multi-use development located on 2,500 acres near Parker, Colorado. Engineering services included preliminary design, cost estimates, feasibility analysis, and report. The report presented estimated costs and alternatives for development of the major transportation, drainage, and water and sewer improvements.



RIVER RUN >>

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, COLORADO

This 215-acre site was engineered for 2,024 dwelling units. Engineering included grading, drainage, streets, water distribution, sanitary sewers, and floodplain reclamation. Over two-thirds of the site was originally in the 100-year floodplain. Approval to reclaim the area in the floodplain required coordination with eight local, state, and Federal entities.



STONEGATE DEVELOPMENTS, INC. >>

PARKER, COLORADO

Planning and design for a four-acre recreational lake, fountain, and landscaping, with an alternate purpose of providing for 100-year storm water detention. Prepared designs on two additional detention ponds along with a drainage plan for approximately 500 acres of the development.



STONEGATE VILLAGE >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO

Single-family detached residential development. Prepared overlot grading plan, final plat, drainage study, sanitary sewer system, and water system for Filings 11 (51 lots) and 33 (52 lots). Processed plat and improvement plans for approval by Douglas County and the Stonegate Center Metropolitan District. Provided construction administration for over $21 million of road, drainage, utility, and landscape improvements for development of 800 residential lots.

Design responsibilities for the 25-acre United Airline hangar site included grading and earthwork for buildings, apron, taxiways, parking areas, service drives, detention ponds, contaminated and non-contaminated storm sewer systems, de-ice fluid collection and storage system, AFFF collection system, specifications, and coordination with United Airlines, Denver International Airport engineers, architectural team, and utility companies.

The United Airlines South Campus facilities project included site grading and drainage for an air cargo building, a flight kitchen, and a ground services building. Coordination with two building architects, Denver International Airport engineers, architectural team, and utility companies.

VAIL, COLORADO

Design of one mile of bikeway and pedestrian path along Gore Creek from the Covered Bridge to Ford Park. Unique features included retaining walls, requirements to save most of the trees, and a stairway/observation platform.

Ford Park Parking Lot Expansion - Design of parking lot expansion for Ford Park, which included grading, drainage, and landscaping work.



VAIL MUNICIPAL BUILDING >>

VAIL, COLORADO

Prepared site grading, storm sewer, utilities, parking lot, sidewalk, and street curb and gutter plans for expansion of the Town of Vail Municipal Building. Coordinated design with the Town of Vail and CDOT. The site is located between an interstate highway off-ramp and a CDOT frontage road.

Civil engineering design for the new Virginia Village Library in Denver, Colorado. RG Consulting Engineers prepared the final design for four intersection reconstruction projects including right-of-way research and analysis, geometric design, profiles, grading and drainage design and coordination with geotechnical engineers. Additionally, RG Consulting Engineers provided the preliminary analysis, design and cost estimates for 42 miles of existing roadways to be used as construction access for the new airport.

RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the City and County of Denver for the design of 96th Avenue from Tower Road to the West Cargo Road at the Denver International Airport (2 miles). Planned as a two-lane arterial, 96th Avenue was designed to accommodate heavy vehicles used in the construction of Denver's new airport.

RG Consulting Engineers provided design and construction engineering services to Mesa County for one mile of collector streets. Project included grading, paving, curb and gutter, storm sewer to convey runoff from the 100-year event, signalized intersection, and relocation of one-half mile of open irrigation ditch.

RG Consulting Engineers provided traffic operations analyses and detour strategy development required for the widening and rehabilitation of the 6th Avenue Viaducts near downtown Denver.

DENVER, COLORADO

As a subconsultant, RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) to provide drainage and traffic engineering design services for the improvement of 20th Street from Chestnut to Arapahoe near the Denver Central Business District. Improvements in the 20th Street corridor included roadway widening, drainage improvements and bridge construction to accommodate a proposed exclusive bus/HOV lane from downtown to I-25. Unique project elements included advance signing plans for the reversible bus/HOV ramps and coordination with vehicle/pedestrian planning for the Coors Field major league baseball stadium.

RG Consulting engineers provided the design for reconstruction of 3,200 L.F. of collector roadway. This City of Broomfield project included grading, paving, curb, gutter and sidewalk, landscaping and irrigation system along the perimeter and raised median, storm sewer, and water transmission line.

RG Consulting Engineers provided design and construction administration services for the following roadway projects:

Chambers Road - Grading, paving, curb and gutter, raised median, storm sewer, and water line for 1,300 L.F. of four-lane divided arterial roadway. Project included signalized intersection.

Jordan Road - Grading, paving, curb and gutter, raised median, storm sewer, and water line for 4,200 L.F. of major arterial roadway. Project included design and construction of a five-lane two-span prestressed concrete bridge structure.

Stonegate Parkway - Grading, paving, curb and gutter, storm sewer, and water transmission line for 4,300 L.F. of collector roadway. Project included construction of a single-span prestressed concrete bridge.

Keystone Boulevard - Grading, paving, curb and gutter, and storm sewer for 3,500 L.F. of collector roadway.



104TH AVENUE / RIVERDALE ROAD RECONSTRUCTION >>

THORNTON, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the City of Thornton to prepare the design for the relocation of Riverdale Road at 104th Avenue. Originally two offset tee intersections, the project required the relocation of the southern leg of Riverdale Road to the east, and the relocation of the northern leg to an alignment immediately west of its present alignment, to accommodate the construction of a two cell box culvert structure. The project included the relocation of numerous irrigation canals and the design of a new mast arm traffic signal installation.



LOWRY AFB REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY >>

Quebec Street - As a subconsultant, RG Consulting Engineers provided the design for the extension of Quebec Street between 1st Avenue and Alameda Avenue through Lowry AFB. Design of this 3,000 L.F. four-lane parkway included grading, curb and gutter, storm drain system, potable and nonpotable irrigation systems, striping, signing, and three signalized intersections.

RG Consulting Engineers provided design and construction administration services for the following roadway projects:

Stonegate Boulevard - Grading, paving, curb and gutter, raised median, storm drainage, sanitary sewer, and water lines for 5,500 L.F. of four-lane divided arterial roadway. The project included a concrete pedestrian underpass.

BROMLEY PARK METROPOLITAN DISTRICT >>

BRIGHTON, COLORADO

50th Avenue - Reconstruction of existing two-lane rural roadway to a four-lane minor arterial. Improvements included grading, paving, curb and gutter, raised center median, storm drainage, signage, and striping. The project also included construction of accel/decel and turning lanes on the I-76 Frontage Road. Approximately 2,700 L.F. of the frontage road was widened to accommodate the additional lanes. The design required CDOT review and approval.

I-76 Frontage Road Improvements - Providing access to residential and industrial site developments within the Bromley Park Metropolitan District required improvements to 6,300 L.F. of frontage roads. The improvements required grading, paving, storm drainage, signage, and striping. The design required CDOT review and approval.

Bridge Street (S.H. 7) - Grading, paving, storm sewer, curb and gutter, signage, and striping for adding additional lanes to 3,500 L.F. of Bridge Street. The project was the first phase of ultimately converting the two-lane rural highway into a six-lane major arterial street with a raised center median.



ALAMEDA / FEDERAL INTERSECTION RECONSTRUCTION >>

As a subconsultant, RG Consulting Engineers provided preliminary and final design engineering support services for the widening of the Federal/Alameda intersection. Right-of-way, urban design, and traffic control during construction were key considerations of this project to increase intersection capacity.

As a subconsultant, RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the City & County of Denver to assist in the assessment of options for the replacement of the aging Broadway viaduct. RG Consulting Engineers coordinated the identification of existing utilities in the corridor.



CHASE STREET IMPROVEMENTS >>

BLACK HAWK, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers performed the design and provided construction services for the preparation and paving of 1,800 feet of existing gravel streets in Black Hawk. The project included construction of 3,600 feet of concrete drainage pans, asphalt pavement for two driving lanes, and miscellaneous asphalt roadside parking areas.

DENVER, COLORADO

Curb and Gutter Rehabilitation - Field investigation, design, and contract document preparation for the reconstruction of deficient curb and gutter throughout the City of Denver. In addition, citizen complaints and recommendations for curb and gutter repair were taken through a special telephone hotline answered at RG Consulting Engineers.

Streetscapes 16 - Researched the location of existing utilities along streets designated for landscape reconstruction.

Evans Avenue Improvements - Research of existing utility locations and coordination for the reconstruction of Evans Avenue.

Monaco Parkway - Design of new curb and gutter, asphalt pavement overlay, and drainage between Colfax and Montview. The work also included traffic control plans, construction phasing, public involvement, and coordination with the Department of Parks and Recreation.

Ivy/Jasmine Street Improvements - Reconstructed two block-long residential streets which had deteriorated due to excessive settling. Work involved designing curb and gutter profiles, centerline profiles, drainage, and street cross-sections. Design was intended to minimize disturbance to surrounding sidewalks, drives and landscaping as well as minimize the removal of existing asphalt.

EDGEWATER, COLORADO

Design and construction services for reconstruction of one-half mile of street, curb and gutter, sidewalk, and storm drain for 22nd Avenue.

Design and construction services for reconstruction of one-half mile of street, curb, gutter, and sidewalk for Harlan Street, a major collector street.

Design and construction services for replacement of over 20 "gutter culverts" with crosspans, combined with handicap ramps, at various locations in the City.

13TH STREET BICYCLE FACILITY >>

BOULDER, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided design services for the creation of a contra-flow bicycle lane through five city blocks of downtown Boulder. This unique project converted a one and two-way city street to blocks where one-way vehicular traffic was separated from opposite flowing one-way bicycle traffic by a "buffer" zone. The "buffer" zone was specially designed to fit the distinctive character of the adjacent Pearl Street Mall. Trees and large planters were used to create a physical barrier between cars and bicycles while maintaining free access for pedestrian cross-traffic.

Design and construction administration of Bar CCC Park. Included grading, drainage, wetland consultation, utility relocation, pedestrian/bike/equestrian paths, soccer field, two softball fields, playground, sodding, and irrigation system.

LITTLETON, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided the design and construction observation for the installation of a 50-foot-span pedestrian/bicycle bridge across the Highline Canal. The project included concrete trail approaches and drainage modifications to Costilla Avenue.

VAIL, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided the design of approximately one-mile of non-paved trail. Design included grading, timber and stone retaining structures, stairways, and a timber overlook structure.



MEADOWOOD PARK PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE >>

AURORA, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the contractor to provide construction plans for the footings for the proposed Meadowood Park Bicycle/Pedestrian Bridge. The construction plans were prepared as a supplement to the plans prepared by the City of Aurora Parks and Recreation.



NORTH CLEAR CREEK PEDESTRIAN PATH >>

BLACK HAWK, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the City of Black Hawk to provide the preliminary design for an 0.85-mile-long pedestrian and bike path adjacent to North Clear Creek. The project provided access to the Main Street and other points in the city while establishing safe pedestrian and bike travel from one end of the city to the other. The project involved U.S. Army Corp of Engineers wetlands mitigation and improvements to the floodplain while also creating an aesthetic, meandering pathway with landscaping and terrace walls.

PARKER, COLORADO

Design and construction administration of 10,000 L.F. effluent main combined with pedestrian/bicycle/equestrian trail, 64 MG storage reservoir, grading, access roads, landscaping, parking, polo field, pump station, irrigation system, polo fields, and equestrian center.



PARKER XERISCAPE DEMONSTRATION GARDEN >>

PARKER, COLORADO

Performed project coordination, construction administration, site inspection and field design for an approximately one-acre xeriscape demonstration garden in Parker, Colorado. Facilities included moderate water, low water and very low water gardens, complete with dirt work, concrete sidewalks, rock walls, planning and irrigation. Coordinated efforts with various contractors, and solicited community and professional donations of materials, equipment, and labor.

BROOMFIELD, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the City of Broomfield to prepare construction plans and provide construction observation services for a 1,000-foot landscaped bikeway/walkway corridor. Funded under the ISTEA program, the CDOT-format design provided an attractive "gateway" between the Park-N-Ride lot at the U.S. 36/S.H. 121 interchange and the residential/commercial areas of Broomfield's S.H. 287 corridor.

Trails included creekside bikeways, trails through parks, and roadside bicycle lanes. Work included profiles, grading, low water crossings, bridge crossings, hydraulic drop structures, local drainage, wetland analysis and survey, topographic mapping and property surveys, and coordination with the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District.



U.S. 36 AND BASELINE ROAD >>

BIKEWAY CONNECTOR
BOULDER, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided the design of approximately 1,000 linear feet of a concrete bikeway connector along U.S. 36 and Baseline Road in conjunction with highway and ramp widening. Work included profiles, design of an underpass under the on-ramp to U.S. 36, extensive rock retaining walls, storm sewer and irrigation ditch bypass, local drainage and coordination with Colorado Department of Transportation Region IV.



WILLIAMS VILLAGE BIKEWAY CONNECTOR >>

BOULDER, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided the design of over 3,000 linear feet of concrete bikeway along westbound U.S. 36 to Baseline Road. Work included profiles, low water crossings, trail connections, street connections, retaining walls, fence relocation, CDOT plan and specification format, and cost estimating as well as coordination with CDOT Region IV and the City of Boulder Public Works.



WOODLAND PARK SIDEWALK/BIKE LANE >>

WOODLAND PARK, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided the design and construction administration of over four miles of streetside concrete/asphalt bike lane/sidewalk. Work included the "fast track" design of bike lanes and sidewalks, relocation of drainage channels, storm sewer, culverts, signing and striping.
