NIVER CREEK REHABILITATION AND MAINTENANCE PROJECT >>

THORNTON, COLORADO

For the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District, RG Consulting Engineers prepared the design for the rehabilitation of 3,000 feet of an existing channel. The design included grading, channel protection, and numerous hydraulic drop structures ranging from 3 to 15 feet in height.



20-MILE REGIONAL STORM FACILITY >>

PARKER, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided hydraulic analysis, design, and construction administration for a 20 ac-ft and 21 ac-ft, 2-cell, storm water detention facility and release structures. The facility provides a controlled discharge of 650 cfs into Cherry Creek. This $800,000 project also required 401 permitting.



I-25-38TH AVENUE-FOX STREET INTERCHANGE >>

DENVER, COLORADO

As part of a freeway corridor improvement project of the Colorado Department of Transportation, RG Consulting Engineers was retained, as a subconsultant, to provide conceptual, preliminary and final design reports and plans for the reconstruction of this major interchange. The selected design, provided for highway widening to accommodate HOV lanes, a braided ramp and collector-distributor road system, and provision for a 2,500-foot "flyover" ramp from southbound I-25 into downtown Denver. The project scope included a complete drainage report for the interchange, including all ramps and infield area, earthwork studies, and the design of improvements to Fox Street and Globeville Road in the vicinity of the interchange.



I-270 DRAINAGE DESIGN >>

ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO

As a subconsultant, RG Consulting Engineers led the evaluation and design of drainage structures and systems for the extension of I-270 from I-76 to the I-25/U.S. 36 interchange. The I-270 extension is one of the most complex systems of consecutive interchanges in the State of Colorado. Design services included the conceptual drainage design for all phases of the project.



DENVER INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT >>

DENVER, COLORADO

Apron and Terminal Taxiways - Hydrologic and hydraulic design of extensive storm sewer system for both clean and contaminated storm water runoff for the apron and terminal taxiways; in addition, a collection system for concourse roof drains as well as overland swales for flows in excess of the storm sewer design storm. Design included a 9900 gpm storm water pump station.

United Airlines APDF facility, Concourse B - Design of storm drains, sanitary sewer service lines, water service lines and design of adjacent airside pavement.

Airport Boulevard at Terminal Complex - Hydrologic and hydraulic design of storm water management system for the roadway system leading into the Main Terminal Complex. Design of culverts, storm sewer systems, open channels, drop structures, erosion protection, and treatment pond for contaminated runoff from parking areas.

South Cargo Complex - Storm drainage design of storm sewer systems and contaminated water collection system for the site. Design and construction documents were completed in four weeks.

Main Apron and Terminal Taxiway - Design and construction documents of clean and contaminated storm sewer networks, including over 40 miles of storm sewer and over 300 inlets and manholes. The project also included initial grading design and earthwork.

AGT Maintenance Facility - Design of storm water collection, pumping facility and outfall conduit. Work included design of a pump station with the capability of pumping a peak flow of 75 cfs through a 3,000-ft. outfall line.

Runway 16L/34R and Associated Taxiways - Preparation of detailed plans and specifications for the construction and installation of all subsurface drainage systems and erosion protection. Services included the structural analysis and design of a vault subjected to aircraft wheel loads, design of 57,000 feet of underdrain pipe, and structural design details for headwalls, underdrain trenches, cleanouts, and riprap erosion protection.



EAGLE CREEK, INC. >>

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, COLORADO

Preparation of floodplain modification study, including HEC 2 analysis for Arapahoe Road Industrial Park, to remove a portion of the site from the Cherry Creek floodplain. A FEMA LOMR was obtained for this site.



THORNTON TRAIL/NIVER CREEK DROP STRUCTURE >>

THORNTON, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers provided the design and construction administration for the replacement of a damaged drainage structure. The 15-foot-high concrete baffled chute structure also doubled as a stream crossing for a segment of the City's trail system. The walls at the top of the drop structure were designed to accommodate a 37-foot span steel truss bridge.



CITY OF EDGEWATER >>

EDGEWATER, COLORADO

22nd Avenue - Designed curb and gutter, crosspans, inlets, and underground drainage collection system in conjunction with the reconstruction of one-half mile of street.

Ashland Drain Line - Coordinated T.V. investigation of 4,000 feet of old storm drain, and developed a program for replacing or sliplining damaged portions of the line. Provided design and construction administration for sliplining a portion of the line.

North Reach Sloan's Lake Drainage - As the City of Edgewater's City Engineer, coordinated UD&FCD design of improvements for the North Reach of the Sloan's Lake drainage through Edgewater. Originated concept of utilizing Citizen's Park for a detention basin to remove commercial area along Sheridan from the 100-year flood plain.

South Reach of Sloan's Lake Channel - Coordinated regrading and rehabilitation of the Sloan's Lake Channel through the new Edgewater Marketplace development.



FOUR LAKES DRAINAGEWAY >>

ARAPAHOE COUNTY, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the Urban Drainage and Flood Control District to design the rehabilitation of 2,300 feet of an existing channel, including regrading, seven drop structures approximately 2.5 feet in height, access road, and concrete and rock trickle channel.



STONEGATE DEVELOPMENTS, INC. >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO

Preparation of a final drainage study for three single family filings, including sizing and design of inlets and storm sewer.

Master Drainage Study for 500-acre, multi-use project. Used the CUHP computer model for runoff and UDSWM computer program for routing through series of detention facilities.

Utilizing base data from an Army Corps of Engineers floodplain study, analyzed the capacity of Cherry Creek channel at the Lincoln Avenue bridge crossing in Douglas County. The study analyzed the effects of various storm flood frequencies on the existing bridge structure and explored alternative bridge configurations and possible channel alterations. A report was prepared which presented the potential flood limits and cost estimates for constructing the various alternatives.



WESTERN TECHNOLOGIES, INC. >>

BOULDER COUNTY, COLORADO

HEC 2 analysis to determine floodplain impacts and floodway limitations of a site on the North St. Vrain Creek.



CITY OF BLACKHAWK >>

BLACKHAWK, COLORADO

Prepared hydrological and hydraulics analysis for the entire city, including 100-year flood boundaries and proposed drainage improvements.



BROMLEY PARK MASTER DRAINAGE PLAN >>

BRIGHTON, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the Bromley Park Metropolitan District to prepare a Master Drainage Plan for the 3,000-acre Bromley Park Development within the City of Brighton. This plan is being utilized to design all storm drainage facilities within the District. The plan was complicated by the necessity of accommodating two major irrigation canals, Interstate I-76, and the Burlington Railroad. All of the facilities traversed the Development. the Master Plan also addressed and set requirements for designing water quality measures.



E-470 PUBLIC HIGHWAY AUTHORITY >>

ENGLEWOOD, COLORADO

Performed hydrology analysis for 800-acre future multi-use development area, contributing storm flows which required conveyance under a portion of the E-470 freeway. Designed three major storm water detention facilities, including channelization, inlet and outlet structures, and landscaping. One detention pond was designed to maintain a permanent water pool of 1.5 acres. The resultant pond, containing a fountain and surrounded by sod and landscaping, doubled as a project amenity.



TRINIDAD MASTER DRAINAGE PLAN >>

TRINIDAD, COLORADO

RG Consulting Engineers prepared a Master Drainage Plan for the City of Trinidad. The plan included mapping and inventory of existing conditions and computer modeling to develop a plan for relieving existing deficiencies and guiding future development within the City. Concurrent with preparation of the Master Drainage Plan, RGCE prepared drainage design and construction standards for development within the City.

PARKER, COLORADO

Design of erosion protection for approximately 1,000 feet of channel, including regrading and the use of fiberglass erosion control material on the site.



HIGHLANDS RANCH >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO

Preparation of final drainage studies for approximately 5,000 single-family lots, including inlet and storm sewer sizing and design, as well as sizing of major drainageway culverts for Mission Viejo.



20TH STREET BUS/HOV CORRIDOR, CHESTNUT TO DOWNTOWN >>

DENVER, COLORADO

As a subconsultant, RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the Denver Regional Transportation District (RTD) to provide drainage and traffic engineering design services for the improvement of 20th Street from Chestnut to Arapahoe near the Denver Central Business District. Improvements in the 20th Street corridor included roadway widening, drainage improvements and bridge construction to accommodate a proposed exclusive bus/HOV lane from downtown to I-25. Unique project elements included advance signing plans for the reversible bus/HOV ramps and coordination with vehicle/pedestrian planning for the proposed major league baseball stadium located immediately adjacent to the project site.



HARSH COLORADO CORPORATION >>

DENVER, COLORADO

Performed design to alleviate a drainage problem at the Howard Johnson's facility located at I-25 and East Hampden Avenue in Denver. Three (3) alternative solutions and cost estimates were prepared. The designs presented methods of preventing storm water from ponding and creating a flooding hazard in the facility's parking lot. The project required liaison with the Colorado Department of Highways.



I-25/58TH AVENUE INTERCHANGE RECONSTRUCTION >>

ADAMS COUNTY, COLORADO

As a subconsultant, RG Consulting Engineers was retained by the Colorado Department of Transportation, Region VI, to provide drainage and traffic engineering design services for the reconstruction of the I-25/58th interchange and the adjacent local arterial system. Services included the design of a local storm sewer system for 58th Avenue and Broadway, and the design of traffic signals at 58th/Logan Court, 58th/East Ramp, 58th/West Ramp, 58th/Broadway and 53rd/Bannock.



BETTS RANCH >>

DOUGLAS COUNTY, COLORADO

Performed hydrology analysis and prepared master storm drain plan for this 2,500-acre proposed development near Parker, Colorado. The plan and accompanying report presented preliminary design and cost estimates for the major drainage facilities.
